Where Do You Work/Nosh?

January 12, 2020 by Nancy LaFever Leave a Comment

As a work-at-home editor/writer/author coach, I tend to become a tad uncivilized and antisocial. As in, “How many days have I worn this sweatshirt?” Or I’ll catch myself asking the pup questions that are above her reading level and pay grade. One solution is to pack up a device and head to a local eatery/coffee shop and work “remotely.” (Here’s an article I wrote on a related topic – Coworking Spaces.)

Yes, it’s a bit cliche – we are easy to spot in the corner with our cappuccino and scone crumbs. But at least we left the house, right? Maybe put on real-people clothes? Good for us!

The photo above is from my new fave place, Beach Street Kitchen, in my newly adopted home of Yachats, OR. I celebrated finishing a recent project by treating myself to breakfast and a chai latte.

(Coming soon – I’ll tell you more about this great place and others in the community.)

Please tell me where you like to hang out/people watch/procrastinate, er…work when you leave home. I’ll feature you, your cool discoveries, and share your personal work-away-from-home Modus Operandi.

Praise

Nancy’s one of the best professionals I’ve worked with in years. As an editor, she excels at communication, her work is thorough, and she offered some genuinely great feedback. But all of that is expected when hiring a professional. What wasn’t expected were the follow-up emails, the congratulations message on release day, and the genuine care she displayed for my work long after she’d already been paid. That personal attention and follow-up is really what makes the experience of working with Nancy special.

— Alan Lastufka, author of the multiple award-winning horror/thriller, “Face the Night”
